Thread: My Pikes Peak Build

    My Pikes Peak Build

As most of you know, I've been working hard to get a full-blown UTV class created for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. While I didn't get a class created for this year, I did however get them to create an Exhibition class so that I could make a run up this hill this June and show them what a UTV is capable of!

To make the best impression possible, I've armed myself with all the best performance parts in the industry and even pioneered a few mods and combinations myself

Here's a list of all my current mods and I will continue to update this thread with new parts and exclusive video as I get closer to race day:

I'm dropping it to about a fist off the ground. I'm running the new Fox 2.0 Shox and Steve from Makin' Trax is setting up the system. With the XTR kit this thing should be nasty through the turns

I also want to make sure that I get every shot I can and from every angle possible while on the hill, so I picked up a whole new camera set up:

    VholdR - ContourHD

Each camera comes with the following:

I was running a GoPro, but there's a few things that I had some issues with:

    1. The GoPro wasn't very easy to use. You can't just hand it to someone and have them start videoing. You usually need a 5 minute training session with them and then you're still not certain to get the shot.

    2. The sound quality wasn't very good. The sealed case is nice, but it doesn't allow you to really capture the true sound of your machine and if it does, all you really hear is the buttons rattling in the case.

The ContourHD is super easy to use and it has just one large switch on the top of the camera that can even be operated if you're not looking at the camera or if you have gloves on. The sound quality is also a lot better! I also like the fact that the ContourHD has little lasers on either side of the lens that help you line the shot up

Man I can't wait! I should get the shox back this week and then I will post pics up as soon as I can! With all the black, the LSR cage and other accents, this thing should look awesome

WOW looks like that will be way fun. The rear tires almost look like drag radials...Have you thought about a drag strip pass or two? That would be fun info....Just the drag racer in me comming out..

That will actually be the next stop after the race! I think I can get it to run a 13 sec 1/4 mile It would go a LOT fast if I could get the top speed into the 90 mph range. I'm pretty sure it will rip a nasty 1/8 miles and then ride the limiter through the rest of the track.
